Your child does not have teeth yet, but it is now worth taking care of oral hygiene. The best way to do this is to rub the baby's gums just after feeding with a swab moistened with water or chamomile. Then the child gets used to manipulating in the mouth and starts to combine the fact of eating with the need to care for the teeth.
When your baby's first teeth appear, buy a teether that looks like a toothbrush. The child claps to the fact that a toothbrush will be in his mouth. In addition, the teething massage sore aching while gingering the gum, which relieves him.
When the first teeth are ejected, there are several ways to take care of them.
- The first is a silicone toothbrush on a finger with soft silicone hair. Such a toothbrush parent cleanses the child's teeth and gums. This is a safe cleaning method that ensures proper control during cleaning. When more teeth appear, it is a good idea to introduce a normal toothbrush. This toothbrush must of course be appropriately selected for the child's age. Manufacturers offer a wide range of toothbrush sizes so we can choose the size of the head on the basis of length of the bristles and the handle for the baby's age.
- For toothbrushes in children up to 12 months of age, fluoridated toothpaste can be used, we are not afraid of swallowing the toothpaste by the child. In older children, the Polish Pedodontics Society recommends the use of a paste with a fluoride concentration of 500ppm. Exactly the concentration is ideal, and the right amount of toothbrush paste should be enough to lightly brush the toothbrush. In this way, the teeth should be cleaned twice a day. Mint flavors are recommended, they have a very delicate flavor and children are reluctant to swallow them, as opposed to pasta (cola, strawberry) flavors.
REMEMBER
If you are afraid that your baby will swallow paste that stays on the teeth after washing, you can wipe it with a damp swab.
The baby should be placed on his lap, like breastfeeding or bottle. In this arrangement we stabilize the child's head and prevent violent movements. An older child can stand with his head slightly raised, while the parent sits.
Parents are children idols and they want to do what their parents do. It is important for the parent to brush their teeth with the baby and explain why it is so important to your health. Adults should brush or assist children to do this activity until 8-10 years of age. It is best to start brushing from the front teeth, and then moving the brush back, this will not raise the child's opposition. Care must also be taken with a brush in the area around the back of the tongue - children often have a gag reflex that can irritate the baby to look after the teeth. Remember, however, that for early childhood children one should choose a paste that has about 1000 ppm of fluoride. Only upwards of 8 years of age can children use pastes as adults, ranging from 1000ppm fluoride to 1400ppm
